Today is the day we leave Brisbane! We’ve been here just over 4 months now. It’s pretty mad that we’ve been here for that long. It’s one of those ones where it feels like we’ve been here for no time at all and also forever.

We came here to WORK. I don’t know if we consciously understood that to mean working for money and working on ourselves but that’s what happened.

We dove into self improvement physically and mentally and well, dramatically. Listening to hundreds of podcasts between us. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to “figure out what we’re doing next”. I look back at us during that time and have to laugh, we were definitely panicking.  As you can imagine I had a completely different game plan going in as I do leaving.

The majority of my intentions were swallowed by my slowly declining health though and to be honest I’ve felt unwell for most of our time here. Plagued with headaches, fatigue and pain, I’ve spent more time in the Drs here than ever in my life (convenient as it is obviously not free)!

Brisbane has been routine and early nights. We’ve been in bed by 20:30 and up by 05:00 every single day and I could count on one hand the times we’ve been out socially. I’m not mad about it (read: I like it).

Both started completely new jobs; me in a Cafe and Joe working for a demolition company. Worst that could happen is I get someone’s Matcha order wrong. Whilst utter chaos is still likely to unfold, nobody’s dying.

Brisbane is cool! Between the sunset skylines and the architecturally impressive bridges slicing through the city’s river it’s been a good old sight for sore eyes. We’ve seen some Koalas (cute), Kangaroos (not cute). Made some new friends (very cute) and lived with the loveliest of housemates (the cutest of them all).

Brisbane randomly delivered me new family members. Biological ones at that. Which has been overwhelming to say the least! But a hugely positive experience and one that has forced me to sit in a lot of my feelings which you know.. on top of everything else.. I’ve got time.. why not!?

[This will need a blog post✍🏽📑].

I’m really proud of us. Both highly motivated to get everything right and do everything well, we typically approach things guns blazing, writing goals and action plans (literally) and although this approach obviously didn’t last more than a month. We found our rhythm and I think we’ve both gotten closer to where we want to be.

Considering everything we’re leaving with our sanity intact, lifelong memories and connections and new skills under our belts. Can’t go wrong with that!

So onto the next adventureeeee,

I think some of you will be surprised what I’m doing next 🙂‍↔️
